Hello from Jim Brungardt. The start of the fishing season is right around the corner. A couple of days ago I was down on lower spring checking out the “new” water. It was a cloudy day and there was a good hatch of Blue Wings coming off. In one of the new pools there were three 20” fish side by side eating as many of those little bugs as they could get. As soon as the work was completed last winter I thought the restoration work looked great and now I finally know the fish think so too.
As many of you already know Didymo, or rock snot, has been found here in the valley. This is a very invasive algae and is easily transported on the bottom of waders or wading boots. For that reason we are now requiring that all fisherman use only 3 Creek waders and boots when fishing on the ranch. We have doubled our inventory of waders and re-modeled one of the raptor cages and will now be storing all the fishing equipment there. A small deck has also been added and this is where we will be staging all fishing activities in the future.

This is John Merritt and I am honored to be back again for another season of incredible dry fly action. I have spent the winter in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, chasing 20-plus pound brown trout running into the Rio Grande River out of the South Atlantic Ocean. While I had a blast and would recommend that adventure to anyone, I would often day dream of the amazing fishing we have here at 3 Creek Ranch. Whether you enjoy the early season Green drakes, the mid season Hoppers or the late season Blue Winged Olives, I am more than excited to get out there with you and wet a line. I look forward to reacquainting with old friends and meeting new anglers at the Nature Center.
